I went on the hunt for accessories today and found this amazing skull mask in a second hand shop. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to buy it even though it was slightly faulty with some of the gems missing but this meant I got it for £10 which is a complete bargain. I felt this mask would work so well with my theme it also reminded me of Alexander McQueen, who's exhibition Savage beauty I had just recently visited In London. The exhibition got me really inspired and excited to create dark and beautiful imagery with many of McQueens designs taking on a dark and surreal feel that were very unnerving. “I think there is beauty in everything. What ‘normal’ people would perceive as ugly, I can usually see something of beauty in it” - Alexander McQueen.
I plan to create a shoot based around this mask with the mask being the main focal point, I feel this could look so effective in an image and it also does not need much else to add to its beauty with it also being slightly unnerving. I plan to possibly replace the gems that are missing from the bottom of the mask but am not to bothered with them missing as I feel it adds character adding to the dark surreal feel.
